Acting was considerably better than I expected from a Christian movie; a surprising lack of cheesiness; and some actually clever, well-written, comedic moments to boot. I liked it. Sue me. |

This is a solid documentary. Though it's far from objective, I believe that most anyone who watches this will get something out of it (all but the most brainwashed theologically-opiated sheeple, that is). It's slickly edited, it's funny (even to a humorless guy like me), and it's as respectful as a film with a loaded agenda can be. The facts Maher presents are easily checkable (for the skeptics), and the film is thoroughly digestible. |

Creator of Borat, Larry Charles did it again! This movie was magnificent! Not a second was boring, thanks to my hero Bill Maher. I know this movie is going to upset believers and i really hope it does. Religion needs to be mocked cause its just sooo ridiculous! How can you be so sure that what you believe is right? |

This film is better as a comedy than as a documentary: it is tremendously entertaining, but not very informative. Maher fails to make the distinction between fundamentalists (who deserve every bit of ridicule they receive) and those who are merely religious. To Maher's credit, he does interview two non-fundamentalists (a Vatican astronomer, and a Catholic priest in Rome) and neither one comes off as hypocritical, greedy, or misguided. |

Bill Maher's wit applied to the subject of religion makes for a very entertaining time. It's a shame that so many people who believe this stuff can't bring themselves to question its validity in this day and age. |

An excellent story of broken relationships and broken people. At first I was a bit put off by the poor quality of acting out of most of the supporting cast, but then, it's an entirely volunteer effort, the cast is mainly members of the Sherwood Baptist Church, so not everyone is going to be on Kirk's level.
There are a couple things that this movie does extremely well. 1: Paints a very real portrait of the "grass is greener" scenarios. The reality of the things that seem so perfect that tempt the characters away from their committments is clearly exposed as being rotten at the core.
2: It illustrates how closely intermingled a spousal relationship is with a relationship with God. Where one suffers, so does the other, where one thrives, so does the other.
For those more interested in movies for the sake of movies, I can see the issues they run into. Much of the acting is sub-par. The dialogue is inconsistent, sometimes it is well written, others, well.... I guess the question here is, do you go into this knowing how the film was produced, and then penalize them for making a low-budget film? Or do you give them props for what they've accomplished. In the end, they effectively tell the story, and they did it all, including the fire scenes, with 1 camera...
Personally, I'm willing to forgive the things this movie fails at, because the things it succeeds at are much more important, in my opinion. |

I truly appreciate Bill Maher's take on religion. As someone who is at odds with many of its values, it's nice to see someone from the same perspective raise some issues. First of all, as a documentary it's unbelievably entertaining. It's filled with random sound effects, random film clips, random reality, and just some plain old fashioned humor. It's kind of relaxing as you take in all the heavy subject matter. Bill Maher stands up to the common beliefs of various religious organizations, not by stating his opinion or insulting them, but by using the very texts they live by. It's not surprising to me that most people don't really read their religious texts and think about the words themselves, but would rather let someone else interpret it for them. It is easier that way. The documentary is scary, though. He reminds us about the numerous states that have some sort of level of religious rule, and how they seem to be at odds with each other, despite the common message of peace in just about every religion. Not to mention that these states now have or are in the process of obtaining weapons of mass destruction. In essence, the documentary centers on the idea of the end of the world, and how in past only God was capable of bringing it about, but in this day and age man has the ability to do so. With all these tensions between states governed to some extent by religion, armed with weapons of mass destruction, just how soon does man fulfil God's prophecy? Maher's solution is to stand up against the existence of religion, as there 16% in the nation who are not religious, which makes a higher percentage than the number of people involved in many other special interest groups. He even made the statement that those that value religion for its gift of a peaceful, must remember that other facets of religion come with a terrible cost. He just might be right. |

super movie. Everyone griping about the acting or production is missing the point entirely. This movie is a CHRISTIAN movie, which generally means 2 things, bad acting, cheesy production. The acting in this was the best of any christian movie I have seen. The production was also the best of any christian movie I have seen. The story was so powerful and relevant, I would recomment that every married couple go see this movie. It reminds you what love is, or should be, and moves your focus back where it belongs. I'm going to sacrifice any amount of credibility I might have by saying that Eagle Eye was not a bad movie. I still don't get the fascination with LaBeouf and I still think DJ Caruso should either figure out how to develop tension or stop making thrillers, but the primary conceit of the film is topical and potent. I see it as a kind of synthesis of Wargames and Terminator. For serious. |

Decent war movie, even if I got the impression that it borrowed a lot from Spielberg's war movies.Italian adaptation was weird, American and Itlainas appeared to be communicating without any problems (highlt unlikely) but it was not clear in which language, Germans would speak German and not be understood instead. Sex scene rather useless, does not add anything to the story safe implying women are w..res.
Excellent actors though.
I do not undestand the title, no miracle happens in St Anna, the only one I can think of is in the other village. Did not understand if Spike Lee owed something to John Leguizamo, his scene is kind of useless |

Shia was reallly good and is shaping up to be a big big star, michelle is better in rom coms. Nice to see dawson playing something different.

I found myself pleased with the turn of events more often than not, something many action films cannot succeed at. While the crux of the story is shaky at best, the action is full throttle and the performances well noted. The film is funny, to be sure, but Maher and Charles pick mostly easy targets to go after. Okay, as a moderate Catholic, I'm not the target audience for this film, but it's definitely a hard film not to respect. First off, I've always loved Bill Maher's TV show and his politics. The guy has thankfully done his research though and he doesn't ridicule these people. At least he doesn't ridicule the good natured people.
