Well told chronicle of the terrorist attacks instigated by the Red Army Faction during the 1970s. You can't play around with the history of events here and the film portrays them and the characters in a way that makes sure you don't empathize with them in any way. How accurate the scenes are where the group discuss their philosophies, aims and objectives is open to a little more leeway.
An unsurprisingly full-on docu-drama, following the rise and fall of a german terrorist group in the 1970's. Although extremely well-acted and fairly watchable (something is always happening), it sadly dragged on for about 45 minutes more than I could bear, and it is imperative that a 150 runtime is justified, especially for the cinema experience. Otherwise, it's exactly what you would expect from it...
Gripping, but despite the serious topic, this movie has its light, entertaining moments. You might find that unfitting and cynical. It's a movie you can have lots of different opinions about. I think the big pro is that it succeds in conveying what motivated the terrorists, so you get some sense of understanding for their actions. Sometimes I think their violence is glorified, but the further the movie proceeds, the more you realize being in the RAF wasn't fun. You realize that these "people like you and I" were killers. hat's the shocking moment about this movie. And you should NOT watch it with 6-year-old children! It's very bloody and violent!
A fascinating docu-drama about the rise and fall of a German left-wing terrorist group in the 1970s. The film's aim is to neutrally portray all the facts, which is also its weakness, and as such it doesn't come to any particular conclusion after two and a half hours. Although it could have been made shorter and punchier, I was totally engrossed throughout and enjoyed this examination of the creation of the 'age of terror'.
